about us
Yayasan Rimba Raya Abadi (YRRA) is a non-profit organization established on August 4, 2022, and based in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. YRRA was founded in response to the challenges of tropical forest conservation and efforts to improve the livelihoods of forest communities through inclusive, participatory, and sustainable approaches.

What We Do
Currently, YRRA is developing a demonstration farm and training center as an open learning space for farmers. At this site, we introduce various environmentally friendly farming methods that can be directly applied in the field.
The soil in West Kalimantan typically has a thin humus layer and low acidity levels. One of the common land-clearing practices still used today is burning small patches of forest. While this can temporarily produce fertile soil, it leads to topsoil erosion during the rainy season and pushes communities to clear more forested areas year after year.
Through the training we provide, farmers are taught to:
-
Produce compost as a natural source of soil fertility,
-
Build terraces and raised beds to prevent erosion,
-
Apply crop diversification to support mutual plant growth, reduce financial risk, and strengthen household food security.
Demonstration Projects
In addition to Sintang, YRRA is also developing two agroforestry demonstration farms in the villages of Langan and Gurung Mali, in collaboration with the organization reNature. These projects primarily focus on rubber cultivation, integrated with fruit trees, coffee, and other crops. This system has proven to improve soil fertility, enhance rubber productivity, and provide farmers with additional income from diversified harvests.
